To best assist a student who qualifies for note-taking assistance on the basis of medical documentation, Sonocent Audio Note-taker empowers students to have complete control of their note-taking.
Sonocent helps students take notes in class by recording lectures in real time through software downloaded onto a student’s computer and/or mobile device.
The downloadable application includes providing space for typed notes, color-coding audio segments, and importing presentation slides and photos. Students have the ability to go back to a saved session after a lecture and synthesize the information to make their own set of notes for review and test preparation.
Sonocent is structured with its four-step “CARE” process to help students get the most out of their note-taking assistance:
C - Capture: Audio record lectures in real time so students can focus fully on course content while it is being shared in class.
A - Annotate: Add notes, color-code audio segments, and import presentation slides and photos that align with audio content.
R - Review: Replay audio recordings at your own pace, picking out important segments to review. Create more detailed notes as you work.
E - Engage: Quickly pull together information by topic or task. Export the files into multiple file formats.
Students who qualify for this accommodation should not hesitate to ask for assistance from the Academic Resource Center to learn how to use this software.
If there are any questions or concerns, please email the Academic Resource Center.
